The Counterpoint Recovery approach combines real-world experience with the tested and proven framework provided by established treatment programs, such as the Twelve Step program developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Our curriculum is the perfect blend of clinical treatment and the foundation and framework provided by the Twelve Step program. The level of thoughtful intention that went into developing it allows us to guarantee that everyone who completes it will have received comprehensive therapeutic care and thorough education in all 12 steps. 

Here are just a few other methods our treatment program uses to help those battling addiction:

• Single-gender treatment: Our men-only program addresses the unique challenges men face from addiction and during the recovery process. This creates a safe space for men to be open about their battles, share their experiences, and support each other.
• Evidence-based therapies: We incorporate proven modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), EMDR, internal family systems (IFS), and motivational interviewing (MI) to create healthy coping mechanisms and a positive mindset during recovery.
• Wellness practices: Our programs feature wellness practices to support physical and mental healing. These practices include meditation to reduce stress and anxiety, yoga to promote holistic relaxation, exercise to increase energy levels and strength, and more. 
• Family involvement: We believe families are an integral part of a recovery journey, so our program includes family education and therapy sessions to restore trust, improve communication, and understand the battle of addiction.

Often, our clients also attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and follow the proven tenets of its 12-step program.

Our counseling modalities rely on practices derived from the following:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This approach focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to addiction. It is useful for recognizing triggers, managing cravings, and developing healthy coping mechanisms. 

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

By integrating CBT techniques and mindfulness practices, DBT aims to regulate emotions and increase distress tolerance. This is beneficial for managing overwhelming emotions, rebuilding relationships, and reducing reliance on substances as coping mechanisms for stress or trauma. 

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Using eye movements, taps, and sounds, EMDR helps people process traumatic memories and lessen the stress associated with them. This therapy approach can reprocess negative thoughts and emotions tied to certain addiction triggers. 

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS works by helping clients resolve inner conflicts, heal emotional damage, and restore self-compassion and inner balance. 

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Using MI, we prepare clients for change, assist them in setting achievable goals, promote self-efficacy, and strengthen their commitment to recovery.
